What Does Media Warfare Actually Look Like?
The first podcaster I really fell in love with was Dan Carlin, through both Hardcore History and his political podcast Common Sense. I never thought I actually enjoyed learning about history or foreign policy, but he made learning fun for me.
Anyway, during a February 2014 Common Sense episode titled Poking the Bear, he accurately predicted that US involvement (meddling) in overthrowing the Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych (through what is called a color revolution) would eventually provoke Russia into invading Ukraine. Many political commentators noticed this, not just Dan.

I’m not going to pretend I know a whole lot about history or that I can properly summarize those events. If you want a deeper dive, I’d suggest reading “Provoked” by Scott Horton. But yeah, as Bret often says, “prediction is the coin of the realm.”
So why do I bring this up?
Well, I had my first huge red-pill moment back then. In 2014, I remember Dan, and other political commentators, gaining traction by pointing out the folly of overthrowing the Ukrainian president. I remember that sentiment actually starting to spread. But then the news cycle was flooded by the October 2014 gay marriage rulings, and in my opinion, that seemed perfectly timed.. that our society has never really recovered since. I can’t prove it but I it caused me to open my eyes since then.

Question for next Q&A: you two have recently expressed interest in the diaster cycles such as the younger dryas. How much weight do you give the idea that these diaster cycles may be the missing data we need for evolution? How possible is it for evolution to make adaptations for something that takes 12 thousand years or more? After all, it keeps happening and the price for being unprepared is extinction. Hard to test until the poles fully flip as Ben describes.
