I'm just a lowly undergrad, out of school for a while, but I think this is . . . closer than what I'm hearing from the rest of the academic world (which is just posturing and ignoring everywhere).
One of the main problems of our time is that no matter what you write or record, no one will ever see it without you constantly spamming social media with self-promotional messages. This completely changed the dynamics of the web making it simultaneously worse and far more manipulable.
One would think that this problem would be at the forefront of post-covid discussions, but it doesn't seem to bother anyone with an existing "platform", because they are profitably using the current system.
I thought Locals will buck the trend by creating a cluster of forums that require paid subscription. Problem is, the platform seems mostly abandoned and it's not nearly good enough for in-depth discussions.
