In this 255th in a series of live discussions with Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying (both PhDs in Biology), we talk about the state of the world through an evolutionary lens.
In this week’s episode, we discuss how to avoid confusion between moral and analytical differences, especially when it comes to politics and the state of America. Probably you have people in your life whom you love, with whom you disagree adamantly about politics. If you believe those people to share your values, then you probably just disagree about what you have seen, and what it means—rather than believing that they are fundamentally bad people. Also: is it unethical to spend time and resources investigating scientific questions that have already been answered? And: excess deaths in the time of Covid, the pull-forward effect, and an analogy with treefalls during early Winter storms: strong winds cull the weak, such that in subsequent storms, there should be fewer trees that fall. Also: check out Obvious State—they make amazing art prints.

Scott Adams and the Billion (trillion?) Dollar Play
I spend most mornings working on a laptop while listening to Real Coffee with Scott Adams. He is not someone I would normally listen to, and I think his views on medicine and foreign affairs are just horrible. However, I am grateful for his pushback against BLM, lockdowns, and masks, and I will miss him dearly. I dread the day when I log on my computer and he is no longer able to host his show .. but intend to tune in until then :-)
There is something bothering me about his story, and it started back in January of 2023 when he said that basically the anti-vaxxers were right (paraphrasing), which was a huge deal. His statements nearly got him cancelled and drew crazy pushback from the usual forces. However, he then did something weird: instead of focusing on the implications of a society having their constitutional rights stripped away and the violation of informed consent, he instead attacked people like Bret and Heather, writing them off as ...
The Eighth Front: How Influence Became the Real Battlefield
The strange case of Charlie Kirk, the sudden attacks on Tucker Carlson, and how influence networks keep the public looking the other way
Since October 10, the date of Charlie Kirk’s death, Nick Fuentes has appeared as a guest on several podcasts and shows, including Part of the Problem with Dave Smith, Offensively Accurate, Infowars with Alex Jones, The PBD Podcast with Patrick Bet-David, Raw Talk with Bradley Martyn, Fresh & Fit, The Nelk Boys show (a Kick stream/podcast), and Glenn Greenwald’s show/podcast.
What I find strange is the reaction Tucker Carlson is getting for hosting Nick on his show. Prominent figures like Ben Shapiro, Ted Cruz, Mitch McConnell, Mike Huckabee, Mark Levin, Bari Weiss, Josh Hammer, Randy Fine, and others are suddenly outraged that anyone would dare give Nick Fuentes a platform. The timing and uniformity of their outrage make it feel almost coordinated, and incredibly fake.
So the question is, if this really is a ...

Casual observations from an armchair observer
In the Charlie Kirk assassination, debunking the “Lone Gunman” theory, I believe Baron Coleman’s work is a smoking gun. Using raw Google Trends data, Baron shows planning began in earnest right after July 14, 2025, the day Dave Smith debated Josh Hammer on U.S. policy toward Israel at TPUSA. Sudden search spikes: shooter’s full name (Tyler James Robinson), Mauser 98, Losee Center, N888KG, even the medical examiner, judge, lawyer, low-level associates, all before the public knew. Baron would also show that nearly all those searches took place from D.C., Huntsville, AL (FBI cyber hub), and Israel. It would be a nothing burger if only one or two of these searches happened, but over 40 google trend spikes happened in a close period of time, shortly after that event
