00:04:40 Welcome!

00:06:33 Bret & Heather in the chat discussing small talk.

00:22:26 Chat: "Maybe they're competent, but are the epithelial cells of frogs confident?"

00:23:24 Chat: "I saw a documentary a while ago, but it's about some crime that happened to a traveler in Madagascar. I didn't know that it's a big tourist destination for Australians?"

00:27:38 Chat: Bret & Heather discuss Bend, OR

00:34:58 Q: B&H, I have always struggled with my weight and physique. i can just look at food and gain weight. i exercise an average of 90 min per day. i have always believed and been told that I have a “slow metabolism”. but what if this isnt precise, what if i haven’t a slow but extremely efficient metabolism. i can eat everyother day and be fine. i have been intermittent fasting for a couple years, now im playing with the idea of intermittent eating. from an evolutionary perspective, what says we need to eat three meals everyday? i look at people eating that much and think, where are they putting it?!

00:54:16 Q: Hello! Thoughts on senior cat diets? And when is a cat considered a senior? Thank you both & much love as always.

01:00:34 Chat: "I wonder how fast our taste buds adapt. Would dry fasting be an efficient weaning strategy?"

01:07:33 Q: Super personal question but I don't know who else to ask. Bare with me. 51 year old man here, ex full-time skateboarder, so there's a lot of wear & tear on this body. Have been having lower back issues more than half my life, hip issues for a few years, and now what seems to be pelvic floor issues. My osteopath, who I've been seeing for years, very top-notch professional, thinks I may have prostate issues & offered to basically give me a prostate exam along with prostate area treatment. Had no idea osteopaths did this. Simply asked: would you go for this? What are your thoughts? THANK YOU ALWAYS.

01:14:27 Heather reads a post from X: "Costco blade tenderizes its steaks. The label says so. And it's the reason a Costco steak comes with the cooking temperature printed on it."

01:19:52 Q: Perhaps more suggestion than question: have you two considered taking DarkHorse outdoors? By that I mean content, livestream or not, that actively incorporates the beautiful and unique landscape you find yourselves in. It could be a series that focuses on putting different parts of your book into action, a "Hunter-Gatherer's Field Guide" as it were. Or, looking at different aspects of San Juan's ecology that expands upon some of your smaller segments commenting on local wildlife. It could make for a good companion piece to Bret’s interviews as the “Outside Rail".

01:26:00 Q: Along the lines of best hypothesis & AI pros/cons. What about AI led medical advice? I share this article wondering you answers to: The Medical AI Bias Trap: Are ChatGPT and Other AI Systems Making Us Smarter - or Just More Confidently Misled? Who shapes the medical knowledge AI learns? What is the real danger and opportunity? Is AI trained within an incomplete framework? Is Evidence hierarchy the same as evidence fit? Article link: https://orthomolecular.activehosted.com/index.php?action=social&chash=b2f627fff19fda463cb386442eac2b3d.473&s I know you may not want to do a deep dive into this for the Q&A. Please consider what you can address, and then maybe a full episode on this worthy topic?

01:35:14 Q: The “Cornell 7” media blitz seemed unnatural to me, especially given everything discussed last episode. A few Google searches showed that Cornell has an active anti-war student movement. Days before the “Cornell 7” story blew up, Hasan Piker spoke on campus on September 24, bringing national attention. Do you see this as yet another battle over free speech on campus?

01:37:48 Q: With Joel Bret said he believes there is value in the old biblical stories and that there needs to be work done on how they are told modernly. Im glad you updated your belief as you told me otherwise in a previous Q&A (tower of babel) If race realism is false, one explaination of differences is the myths we pass down. To test this we would assume to see the greatest expression in outlier males (greater male variablility) and we would want a group that has had long history. Jews wrote their cultural cornerstone during the babylonian exile and racists have pointed out 109 instances of reinforcement. To what degree do you think this affects jewish behavior? Jewish outlier behavior reminds me of foster children, testing boundaries.

01:41:21 Q: During Bret’s interview with J. Burden, he spoke about the need for Gen-Z to “take power from Boomers” before The West slides into irreversible Old Testament style in-group vs. out-group violence. The biggest challenge for Gen-Z seems to be organization ‘offline’ and the creation of sustainable, in-person movements. How can Gen-Z create ‘real-life’ opposition and anti-establishment synergy in a world increasingly devoid of face-to-face collaboration?

01:44:09 Q: Hey Bret and Heather! How do you revive the idea of a soulmate in a generation where that idea is dying/dead? As a heterosexual male and elder member of Gen-Z (born 1998), I have found it very difficult to find females of my generation that are open to the idea of a soulmate. Everybody seems set on “living it up” in their 20s and then settling down in their 30s. So how do you pitch a deeply emotional and personal experience like that of a soulmate to someone to whom this idea is foreign? Thank you so much your responses are always fantastic

Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying discuss censorship and the war in Iran:

We have "cartesian blinders being put on us so that we are trying to make sense out of scraps of information and hints." - @bretweinstein

00:02:06
Who exactly belongs in the Stone Ages?

WEINSTEIN: I mean, even if you have your villains who are engaged in the behavior that motivated this war in Iran, even if that's the story, presumably most of the people in the path of these ferocious bombings that he is describing are not deserving of going back to the Stone Age.

In fact, I distinctly remember him telling us that part of what we were up to was liberating the people of Iran from their tyrannical regime.

So if it's the tyrannical regime that justifies the ferocious bombing, then it's a tragedy that other people are going to be sent back to the Stone Ages with them. Right?

HEYING: It's it's not a narrative. It's an incoherent set of talking points.

WEINSTEIN: Yeah, it's a kind of cheerleading that is completely inappropriate from the perspective of the president.

Bret Weinstein discusses the Trump administrations "back to the stone age" recent remarks in the latest episode of The Evolutionary Lens, Episode 320 "Are we back in the stone age?" on DarkHorse.

Washington's 9.9% "Millionaires Tax" Isn't That Simple

Bret Weinstein explains, "If you stop businesses from starting here, and if you drive people so that they move elsewhere—even though it's difficult to do—then the point is the tax base dries up, which then forces you to become even more predatory for the people who stayed.

And that's really the thing, right? They're setting themselves up so that they have to go after more and more people, because the people who are starting new businesses are not going to do it here."

My Friends Are Still Getting the Damn Shots

A painful upgrade indeed

Something that Bret and Heather discuss is the idea of a painful upgrade. Well, I have my own special version of that where, instead of moving on and finding new friends, I end up going through a breakup period with my friends and eventually come back and repair the bridges.

It’s in my nature to handle things that way. For example, my mom was a lifetime smoker and was hooked on pain meds (she passed in early 2020), and I got really, really, really upset with her back in 2012-ish because I kept begging her to quit and it deeply disturbed me. So I went two years in frustration not talking to her because I was so upset, but I eventually came around, realizing that I can’t change her. After that, I would buy cigarettes for her if she needed help with that, but I wouldn’t touch the meds.

Anyways, I’m at the same point with my friends. Out of frustration, I stopped talking to many of those I once hung out with, for all the ...

Add Episode 347 of The Evolutionary Lens with Dr. Bret Weinstein and Dr. Heather Heying, “Where Cheaters Prosper” to your podcast playlist:

Bret and Heather discuss the ballot initiatives and voter id in the state of Washington.

On this November’s ballot, WA has 3 measures: 645 (which would repeal the new income tax), 638 (which would keep girls’ sports single-sex), and 001 (which would return parental rights). We discuss—and support—all three. In every case, reading the arguments for and against, it is clear that one side must be lying—the “facts” are inconsistent.

Cheaters will keep winning until more of us start voting against them—even if they seem to be on “our” side. We also discuss why Washington doesn’t check voters for citizenship.
