My Friends Are Still Getting the Damn Shots

A painful upgrade indeed

Something that Bret and Heather discuss is the idea of a painful upgrade. Well, I have my own special version of that where, instead of moving on and finding new friends, I end up going through a breakup period with my friends and eventually come back and repair the bridges.

It’s in my nature to handle things that way. For example, my mom was a lifetime smoker and was hooked on pain meds (she passed in early 2020), and I got really, really, really upset with her back in 2012-ish because I kept begging her to quit and it deeply disturbed me. So I went two years in frustration not talking to her because I was so upset, but I eventually came around, realizing that I can’t change her. After that, I would buy cigarettes for her if she needed help with that, but I wouldn’t touch the meds.

Anyways, I’m at the same point with my friends. Out of frustration, I stopped talking to many of those I once hung out with, for all the reasons that bring any of us here to these forums, whether the jabs or general skepticism over the events that took place the last decade.

And now, I’m doing that thing where I’m coming back and hanging out with my friends again. It’s an extremely weird experience, to say the least, because they still have 2020 brain. The idea that a few scientists killed tens of millions of people doesn’t even register to them as something that might be a big deal. They still see people like Fauci as a hero of sorts. Oddly enough, they don’t wear masks, which is kinda surprising to me. I guess it’s not fashionable?

I’m from Wisconsin, and I will never forgive how people treated Aaron Rodgers, at least among the people I know. I was never a big football nerd... but my friends were. So, even though I wouldn’t personally watch football on my own, I did enjoy watching football with my nerdy football friends. So when it turned out that Aaron Rodgers was worried about being allergic to some of the ingredients in the jabs and bailed out and took ivermectin instead, my super nerdy football friends collectively turned their backs on him... and I will never forget that.

It’s actually kinda funny to think about the Aaron Rodgers story. If I wanted to ruin a party with my friends, all I’d have to do is bring up Aaron Rodgers. He is still not to be named, which cracks me up, because someone like Tiger Woods, who cheated on his wife and crashed his car while shitfaced, is more popular than Aaron Rodgers, who did nothing other than reject an injection that contained ingredients he knew he was allergic to.

Anyways, being around my friends again is weird, to say the least. A couple of weekends ago, while a group of us were hanging out at a nearby brewery, I overheard two of my friends discussing whether to get the Covid mRNA shot together with the flu shot or to wait between the shots. And I was deeply shocked with horror. I felt very much like I did when my mom would light up a cigarette and/or load up on OxyContin (or was it oxycodone?).

But yeah, I find myself in situations where I'll be perfectly comfortable with my friends and having a good time to being absolutely horrified because almost all of them not only continue to get the shots, but also make it a point to let everyone else know. I call it 2020 brain.. their brains haven't updated since then when it comes to backfilling all the things we've learned since.

Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying discuss censorship and the war in Iran:

We have "cartesian blinders being put on us so that we are trying to make sense out of scraps of information and hints." - @bretweinstein

Who exactly belongs in the Stone Ages?

WEINSTEIN: I mean, even if you have your villains who are engaged in the behavior that motivated this war in Iran, even if that's the story, presumably most of the people in the path of these ferocious bombings that he is describing are not deserving of going back to the Stone Age.

In fact, I distinctly remember him telling us that part of what we were up to was liberating the people of Iran from their tyrannical regime.

So if it's the tyrannical regime that justifies the ferocious bombing, then it's a tragedy that other people are going to be sent back to the Stone Ages with them. Right?

HEYING: It's it's not a narrative. It's an incoherent set of talking points.

WEINSTEIN: Yeah, it's a kind of cheerleading that is completely inappropriate from the perspective of the president.

Bret Weinstein discusses the Trump administrations "back to the stone age" recent remarks in the latest episode of The Evolutionary Lens, Episode 320 "Are we back in the stone age?" on DarkHorse.

Washington's 9.9% "Millionaires Tax" Isn't That Simple

Bret Weinstein explains, "If you stop businesses from starting here, and if you drive people so that they move elsewhere—even though it's difficult to do—then the point is the tax base dries up, which then forces you to become even more predatory for the people who stayed.

And that's really the thing, right? They're setting themselves up so that they have to go after more and more people, because the people who are starting new businesses are not going to do it here."

Bret and Heather discuss the ballot initiatives and voter id in the state of Washington.

On this November’s ballot, WA has 3 measures: 645 (which would repeal the new income tax), 638 (which would keep girls’ sports single-sex), and 001 (which would return parental rights). We discuss—and support—all three. In every case, reading the arguments for and against, it is clear that one side must be lying—the “facts” are inconsistent.

Cheaters will keep winning until more of us start voting against them—even if they seem to be on “our” side. We also discuss why Washington doesn’t check voters for citizenship.
