Bret and Heather discuss the recent flash flood on the border of Nepal and Tibet, climate science, and the nature of evidence.
What commonalities are there between a glacial dam breaking and flooding the valley below, taking out towns and villages; Dry Falls and the Columbia River Gorge in Washington state; the Boxing Day tsunami in the Indian Ocean; and the 2011 earthquake that resulted in the destruction of the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan? In some cases we have to infer what happened; in some cases we have direct observation; in all cases we have to construct a plausible story that fits all of the evidence.
Meanwhile in climate science, a new paper reconstructs NOAA data from 1,200 weather stations from over 100 years, uses a different metric than NOAA does to describe the data, and concludes that the world—or at least the coterminous U.S.—is not heating up in the way we have been told. We discuss.

We have "cartesian blinders being put on us so that we are trying to make sense out of scraps of information and hints." - @bretweinstein
WEINSTEIN: I mean, even if you have your villains who are engaged in the behavior that motivated this war in Iran, even if that's the story, presumably most of the people in the path of these ferocious bombings that he is describing are not deserving of going back to the Stone Age.
In fact, I distinctly remember him telling us that part of what we were up to was liberating the people of Iran from their tyrannical regime.
So if it's the tyrannical regime that justifies the ferocious bombing, then it's a tragedy that other people are going to be sent back to the Stone Ages with them. Right?
HEYING: It's it's not a narrative. It's an incoherent set of talking points.
WEINSTEIN: Yeah, it's a kind of cheerleading that is completely inappropriate from the perspective of the president.
Bret Weinstein discusses the Trump administrations "back to the stone age" recent remarks in the latest episode of The Evolutionary Lens, Episode 320 "Are we back in the stone age?" on DarkHorse.
Bret Weinstein explains, "If you stop businesses from starting here, and if you drive people so that they move elsewhere—even though it's difficult to do—then the point is the tax base dries up, which then forces you to become even more predatory for the people who stayed.
And that's really the thing, right? They're setting themselves up so that they have to go after more and more people, because the people who are starting new businesses are not going to do it here."
Bret and Heather discuss immigration, AI, and rawness.
First: a new Harper’s article chronicles the effects on local people of the mass migration across the Darién Gap in Panama between 2021 and 2025, and what has happened since the number of people coming up from Colombia has dropped to a trickle. The reporting on the ground is excellent—human and honest—while the political analysis is naïve at best.
Then: what is it to be raw, how is it inherently human, and what is its relationship to grief, and to AI?

Question for next Q&A second attempt
With Joel Bret said he believes there is value in the old biblical stories and that there needs to be work done on how they are told modernly. Im glad you updated your belief as you told me otherwise in a previous Q&A (tower of babel) If race realism is false, one explaination of differences is the myths we pass down. To test this we would assume to see the greatest expression of a trait in outlier males (greater male variablility) and we would want a group that has had long history. Jews wrote their cultural cornerstone during the babylonian exile 5th century bc and racists want everyone to know about 109 other instances of reinforcement. A whole belief and cultural system that revolves around being forced away from home and becoming sojourners. To what degree do you think this affects jewish behavior? Jewish outlier behavior reminds me of foster children, testing boundaries. Jewish outlier men seem to possess the disposition to become ...
Hey guys, a mistake was made recently that would make every IT person cringe, especially when it happens at the highest levels of military intelligence.
First, some background. There's an ongoing controversy over whether Mitch Snow, a former special forces operator, was right when he said he saw key members of Charlie Kirk's security team, as well as Erika Kirk, at Fort Huachuca, the US's premier intelligence base, in the day or days before the assassination.
So why does Fort Huachuca matter? According to researcher Ana Escobar, in the days leading up to the assassination, the base's expected visitor list included a strange mix of people: top military officials, the director of the Mossad, the people who run the HADES program, and key members of Charlie Kirk's security team. That's a weird group to have heading to the same Army base in the same handful of days.
And then there's the HADES jet ...
